There is no secret when fishing for big bass. Just simple techniques that will catch you more bass and bigger bass every time you go out no matter what the fishing conditions are like. Hooking a great big old bass is one thing, but actually catching the bass without it breaking your line or getting loose is a totally different story. Bass are famous for having a bad temper they often strike or feed on something that is annoying to them. They are a very aggressive fish and 80% of the time that they strike your lure it is a reaction, the other 20% is actually hunger! So in other words if you piss them off you will get a strike. When fishing for bass try to use something that is an attention grabber. My personal favorite when fishing for big bass in new lakes is a big old multi – colored spinner bait. The spinner bait is a very effective bass fishing tool it grabs the bass attention and entices them to strike on reaction and not hunger leaving you with a more active fish and often a much bigger bass as opposed to live bait fishing.

Imagine… You are in the perfect fishing hole, with more than ideal conditions. The water color, temperature, wind, cover and structures surrounding you… just too perfect for the Largemouth Bass. You examine the surrounding area quietly, and observe underwater logs, rocks and weed growth along the banks. He’s nearby. He has to be, this is my chance, it’s perfect. You have no doubt that the 14 pound Trophy Bass that you have been searching for is within your reach. Yet, cast after cast, you just can’t seem to get a strike. What would you do? Consider it a bad day and move on? Guess what… You probably just lost your Trophy Bass.

Check out my Squidoo Page… http://www.squidoo.com/bass–fishing

Largemouth Bass are tough fish to catch, they know how to play the game you really have to get into the mind of this fish to be able to catch it. Knowing where and how to catch Largemouth Bass requires deep understanding that can take you years to master. A couple tips for the next time you arrive in the perfect fishing hole. Start with something noisey like a buzz bait or a spinner bait or a lure that stays on the surface of the water, a real attention grabber make sure to comb the area thouroghly. After that is done and you still have not cought your 14lb trophy bass its time to step it up a notch, whatever you do don’t move to a new spot because you think there are no bass there.Your wrong!!! A simple change in technique will land you that 14lb bass of your dreams. Switch that spinner bait or buzz bait to a 7 inch white plastic worm something along the lines of a slugo bait, It has to be white. Now comb that same area with a very slow twitching retreive. Remember when i said 80% of strikes are aggression strikes and the other 20% are hunger strikes. Well you know that there are no aggressive bass there because you thouroghly casted your spinner bait in the area. Now try a slow twitching retreive with the white plastic worm in the same area and you are going to catch that hungry bass. Most often the hungry bass are the big mama’s, and there you go you now have your 14lb trophy bass from a spot that you were going to leave. It is simple techniques like these that will catch you more bass and bigger bass every time you go fishing.

Almost anyone who have been on a bass fishing trip will tell you just how fishing techniques triumphs over luck in the long run, because bass fishing is simply more of a skilled sports than a luck one. In this article we will talk about some easy bass fishing tips that you can immediately apply to your next fishing trip.

One quick word of advice, do not always believe what you hear from others, other person bass fishing techniques should not be your own until proven! Do not assume that their tips will guarantee your success in fishing. These bass fishing tips should be more of a pointers in general rather than an absolute guide, there are many factor when it comes to bass fishing. Time of the year, weather, season and water temperature will all affect different aspect of your fishing trips. All these should be taken into consideration when it comes to choosing your lure and bait.

You should always look for practical bass fishing tips, instead of one claimed to be the best fishing tips. What I mean is, instead of trying to follow by the books and make sure everything is a 100% perfect and in line with the tip, try doing things more practically. Take into account of other approach and factors while developing your own fishing technique is an example of it.

Here are a few useful and easy bass fishing tips:

Casting slowing – Any pro will tell you this, when you cast, aim longer instead of on top of those fishes and retrieve your lure slowly, this way you won’t be distracting the flow of the water and startling those fishes.

Practicing – As it is important to know where to cast, practicing this skill will probably net you some bigger fishes in general. Sidearm cast and underhand cast are useful in different situation especially in cover. Practice in your own backyard until you are relatively comfortable to take them into the lake!

Using the correct lure – Lure is not just lure, there are essentially different for different type of situation. Learn about bass fish feeding pattern and you’ll understand why crankbaits and used in the morning and not grubs. Color tone of the lures also have an impact.

These few easy bass fishing tips should get your weekend started, as you go along, you’ll start developing your own bass fishing techniques that are useful and productive for you. Remember to write them down as you do not want to lose what might be the best fishing tips developed by yourself!

It’s a small e book but It’s packed with awesome tips and pointers. It’s plain and simple read my book and catch more and bigger bass your next time fishing! Also check out my Squidoo Page for more helpful bass fishing tips. http://www.squidoo.com/bass–fishing

Most often the hungry bass are the big mama’s, and there you go, you now have your 14lb trophy bass from a spot that you were going to leave. It is simple techniques like these that will catch you more bass and bigger bass every time you go fishing.

Nothing beats a great time with friends, and a largemouth bass fishing tip is just the thing to bring your friends and family close together all for the sake of one cause and common goal: landing the biggest fish in the lake. You can impress your friends by reeling in the biggest largemouth bass you can imagine when you plan out and use, to perfection, your very own largemouth bass fishing tip. Taking a fishing trip is a good idea and a great place to start.

No, it isn’t just the professionals that take fishing trips anymore. With the right planning, a good focus, and a little bit of money you and your friends can be on your way to a wonderful little fishing trip that will bring you years of memories, bragging rights, and of course “fish stories”. There really is no comparison and nothing like the experience of fishing on earth and as any angler will tell you: they wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Taking a fishing trip and using your largemouth bass fishing tip can seem like a lot of work at first, but once you get your items together and your trip planned out further you will rest assured that you have planned a small miracle and won’t be able to contain your excitement when you unleash the plan on your friends and family. A few small things are needed, however, in order to plan your perfect trip.

Know Where to Go

Start with a destination. There isn’t much sense in going on a fishing trip if you don’t know where to fish. Check with local authorities on where you can fish legally. You wouldn’t want your best friend’s six-year old to get arrested for catching fish illegally. Your perfect trip could fast turn into a perfect nightmare if you do not plan your destination with the utmost care and attention to all of the small details. Plan the roads you are hoping to take and find alternate routes. Also, plan rest stops.

Continue planning your tip with your largemouth bass fishing tip with a goal in mind. How many fish do you intend to catch? How many fish do you want to catch? How much time will you spend dreaming about fish? All of these questions and more need answers in order to fulfill your goal of the perfect fishing trip. The essence of any good trip, fishing or not, is in the goals that you want to accomplish. You go to Europe to see the sights; you go on a fishing trip to catch some fish with your friends and family.

Finally, enjoy yourself. Pack the right amount of clothes and safety equipment and then just forget about it all. Let the vision of a lake filled with largemouth bass overtake you as you drift off into a deep, dreamy sleep. Just make sure you aren’t driving!

No matter how experienced you are as fishermen, you should always be willing (and trying!) to get your hands on some good tips on how to catch your favorite fish. The true test of the fishing tip lies in a) the source, b) it’s proven success and c) it helping you in catching more fish! What works for you might not be what works for someone else. Worse yet – what doesn’t work for you (but you think it does) gives all the fish to someone else.

Good Bass Fishing Tips

There are lots fishing tips that are floating around with special emphasis on catching bass. One of the most important tips however (not only for bass fishing but for any other species) is that the fisherman has to be extremely familiar with the fish he/she wants to catch. If you are fishing for bass, you should know where they live, what they eat, where they like to frequent and why, how to locate them in the morning and at night, and the best way to attract them. This may be precisely what you are looking for. This is where the research comes in on finding those bass fishing tips.

Bass Fishing Tip #1

You cannot fish for bass, or any other fish, unless you are comfortable with the location / destination the fishing for that species takes place. For example, there is specific type of bass called the Peacock Bass that lives in the Amazon River. If you want to catch it, pack your bags and head to the Amazons because you won’t find it anywhere else. So, know where your fish live before you attempt to start catching them somewhere they don’t swim. Believe it or not, simple mistakes like not knowing where the bass you’re fishing for is not uncommon. Don’t be the dummy!

Bass fishing Tip #3

Summer is the season for fishing, especially for bass fishing. It’s just too bad that summer boating, hot tempratures, etc. make bass fishing more difficult. But if you’re a goal setter and a die-hard fisherman set on catching some great bass, you will have to plan a trip to your summer destination… like Florida – or at least some place where the bass live and you can take your pick. They will be following the crayfish which is their favorite food. If you have a well known spot or place you always enjoy fishing then take advantage! Steer clear of popular boating areas that scare the fish away. If you do not, I would recommend looking at one of the fishing guides we’ve reviewed – lots of great information to get you on your way.

Bass Fishing Tip #4

Unless you have a fair idea of what you are doing, no matter how many fish are in the sea, you won’t be able to catch one of them. They guy next to you who’s been fishing since he was 5 with his father and grandfather will be catching everything you’re not. You should know how to use each and every piece in your angling box; carrying with you adequate lures and live bait which are ONLY for bass. The method of fishing, your style of fishing and the fishing implements you carry will have to complement one another perfectly if you want to have an easy and enjoyable time bass fishing.

There is a lot to learn, so be patient, it will come. I congratulate you on taking the first steps to learning great new tips on making your perfect catch. For more tips, have a look at the bass fishing guides we’ve reviewed – these are a great start to getting you on your way to catching all the bass you can dream of. Good luck and happy fishing!

While many people go to Florida to fish the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, or the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean for big saltwater catches, Florida bass fishing is a popular inland sport. Florida is full of lake resources that are literally packed to the gill (pun intended) with bass. Where in Florida can you go to find the best opportunity for fishing for bass in Florida? Here are some of the best lakes you can visit in the state.

Florida bass fishing at Lake George can be a fabulous time. As one of many natural lakes on the St. John’s River, it is full of vegetation that is inviting cover for bass. Wading in with plastic worms into the eelgrass and fishing on the surface is sure to make for a productive day. You may want to try some other top water artificial lures, as well. Live shiners are perfect for catching trophy sized bass, especially during spawning season in the spring.

The Stick Marsh Reservoir is also a fertile habitat that provides excellent Florida bass fishing. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, soft jerbaits, and topwater propeller baits can provide a good chance of catching large bass, especially around the woody stumps and submerged canals and hydrilla. For trophy fish at this lake, try working wild gold shiners, and you should see phenomenal results.

Lake Tohopekaliga is a great place for Florida bass fishing during early spring when it is spawning season. The shallows inshore are full of native vegetation, including topped out hydrilla, which makes for a great spawning habitat. Try flipping plastic baits along grass edges and bulrush. Chugging baits can be productive as well. Another fine lake with such opportunities is the Rodman Reservoir, created in 1968 and covering 9,500 acres. It is known for its population of largemouth bass, especially for large, trophy sized specimen.

If you are in the area, try Florida bass fishing in Lake Kissimmee, the largest of five main bodies of water on the Kissimmee River in central Florida. High quality fishing of all kinds takes place here, with tournaments producing bass like crazy, with 18-20 pounds coming in as winning numbers. Offshore fishing in the area is also popular, using shad-imitation jigs, jerkbaits, and topwater bait. Work around the coontail, eelgrass beds, ledges, and humps for the best catch. These same tactics can be used to produce satisfying results at Lake Tarpon, though fishing with wild shiners and live shad can also do the trick here.

Catching Largemouth Bass in winter is a difficult proposition at best. Much depends on what part of the country you are from and how cold the winter is. If you are talking about cutting a hole in ice that is 12 inches deep and trying to catch Largemouth Bass you can forget it now. If the water temperature is under 40 degrees you will not catch Largemouth Bass like you will other species. At 45 degrees, the action picks up a bit. For my money I would not target Largemouth Bass until the water reaches 50 degrees. Keep in mind the effects of the sun and water depth on water temperature. A lake may be near 40 degree at one end and as hot as 50 degrees on the other end.

Your first consideration is what equipment to use. The key piece of equipment is the rod. Largemouth Bass will be very sluggish at this time of year. You need a rod that is very sensitive and will let you know when the bait is picked up. As is often the case in life you get what you pay for. A high quality fishing rod may cost a bit more than a common rod but at this time of year the investment is worth it. You will not feel many pickups with a common rod. Instead of viciously attacking it’s quarry Largemouth Bass at this time of year often merely pick it up in there mouths and swallow it. Once they feel something unnatural in their mouths they will drop the bait. This often happens without the angler even knowing the bass ever picked up the bait.

Any normal spinning reel will be sufficient. Largemouth Bass at this time of year are very sluggish and do not fight with anywhere near the same intensity they do in the summer. You will need to use very light line, certainly no stronger than 6 pound test. Because you will be using a light line you should have a small reel also. You will not need a great deal of line capacity. You will not be making long casts and will not likely have much line pulled off the drag. Remember that these very are very in active and very wary. In summer they will attack a bait without regard to heavy line in the area. In winter they will inspect any offering in a meticulous manner. Use the lightest line you can, four pound line is sufficient for any Largemouth Bass you may encounter in winter.

Your next consideration is where to fish. I would select a location in reasonably shallow water. Many Largemouth Bass suspend in deeper water, but these fish are not feeding. When they do decide to feed they will assuredly head to shallower water, I look for 6-12 foot water depth in the winter. I also look to fish in the sun, pick a spot on the lake that the has shined on for awhile. You will not likely have any green vegetation but you may be able to find some standing or fallen timber. Either of these two locations are prime winter locations. If you can find any green vegetation then by all means fish these areas.

One in position you need to select a bait. As with any other kind of fishing live bait always works best. This is probably more the case in winter than other times of the year. If using artificial baits you can eliminate spinnerbaits, crankbaits and just about any fast moving or topwater bait. Lures you use must be fished very slow and very deep. I like to use either jig or plastic worm at this time of year. You need to fish them very slow. I prefer to bounce them on the bottom, sometimes even allowing them to sit for several seconds before I continue my retrieve. You almost cannot fish too slowly. Many of the strokes I have gotten have happen after I have let a bait sit for several seconds. The Largemouth Bass often will move towards a bait then stop moving and stare at it, often hitting the next time it moves.

I consider Florida to be the Mecca of Largemouth Bass fishing in the United States. There are many places to fish in Florida. In this article I will describe one place that is well known and one little known place that offers great fishing opportunities as well. I want to stress that there are many different lakes to fish in Florida. When I talk about Lake Okeechobee for instance understand that there are hundreds of lakes that fit the same description throughout South Florida.

Lake Okeechobee is perhaps the most famous Largemouth Bass lake in the United States; It has earned that reputation by continuously producing large numbers of very large bass. It is a very large lake, over 50,000 square miles! It is also a very shallow Lake. A large portion of this lake is less than 6 feet deep. These in fact are the areas that often hold the largest bass. I would venture to guess than over half of the ten pound or larger bass I have caught have come from water that was 306 foot deep.

Fishing Lake Okeechobee can be a challenge but very rewarding. You will of course want to find the shallow weedy areas of the lake. If your only concern is boating a huge Largemouth Bass then you might want to consider fishing with livebait. The specific livebait of choice in this lake is the wild Florida Shiner. They are available at most marinas/bait shops in the area. If you are going to target huge Largemouth Bass you will need to use large bait. An eight to ten inch long shiner allowed to swim freely under a float, or free lined, is an awesome presentation. Understand that with large bait you need to use a very large hook. Make sure your hook is well sharpened as it must penetrate the tough mouth of a very large fish. You need to use a stout heavy action rod that has enough backbone to set that hook deep inside the mouth of your quarry.

If you prefer the more sporting method of using artificial baits then you need to gear your arsenal to fishing in heavy weeds. Spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and other topwater offering are much more important to have in your box than crankbaits and spoons. You need to be able to retrieve your lure through the heavy cover where the bass lie. Again make sure your hooks are sharp. Vary your retrieve until you find the proper presentations. You will find some days where a fast retrieve is required to catch very active fish. On other days you need a much slower presentation.

The key thing you need to do is be able to read the water. In a large lake like Okeechobee much of the water does not hold many fish. You need to first take notice of your surrounding and look for areas likely to hold fish. You can often do this by simply looking at the surface of the water for action. If you see schools of shiners and other smaller fish constantly breaking the surface of the water you can be sure Largemouth Bass are around as well.

The Smallmouth bass are found from Ontario’s Great Lakes shoals to scenic, glacial lakes of the Canadian Shield and in thousands of rivers, creeks, and lakes in between. Smallmouth are mainly in warmer water bodies with shallow cover, whether it be weeds and wood or rocky outcrops. In lakes with varied habitat, smallmouth territory overlaps with that of smallmouth bass, making for diverse angling action.

Smallmouth bass are usually in more open water, where you can use light to medium-action 6- to 7-foot spinning rods and 6- to 10-pound-test lines. Fly-rodders also find these smallmouth bass eager to take top-water poppers or minnow-shaped streamers when the fish are in relatively shallow water. In summer, deep underwater points, rocky shoals, submerged islands, and weed edges are the places to catch these hard-fighting, tail-walking fish. Soft-plastic twister-tail, tube, and shad jig bodies on 1/8- to 3/8-ounce heads are the most common smallmouth bass lures. Good jig colors are black, smoke, purple, amber, yellow, and white. Bounce jigs along bottom, while retrieving or drifting with the wind over potential hotspots. One trick is to allow a tube jig to settle on bottom, then release 20 to 40 yards (18 to 36 m) of line. As the boat drifts, nudge the bait along, as you feel for a strike. This technique is particularly useful in clear, deep water for spooky smallmouth bass. Smallmouth bass are particularly fond of crayfish, especially soft-shells that have just mounted.

Smallmouth tactics that work elsewhere are also effective in Ontario. Fishing varies from flip-and-pitch techniques around shallow, matted weeds, docks, and stumps, to exciting top-water action on jerk baits, poppers, and floating plastic worms. Crawling spinner baits or retrieving shallow-running crank baits along sub-merged weed patches also pay off. Bass of both species in deeper water can be taken with diving crank baits, Carolina-rigged soft-plastic baits, and jigs. Although some southern lakes or rivers are turbid, clear water is normal in Ontario. Bait casting tackle spooled with 12- to 20-pound line is ideal around heavy cover for smallmouth in stained waters. Light spinning tackle, though, is often necessary to fool smallmouths in clear water on sunny days. In these conditions, thin, yet strong, braided or fused line and small plastic worms, grubs, or jigs can jump-start the action, while allowing you to handle fish around cover. Live bait is effective for both species. Leeches, minnows, and juicy nightcrawlers rigged beneath a float or with split-shot on the bottom will draw strikes.

Start of Spring

Smallmouth bass bass love rock and spend more than ninety percent of their time on this hard structure. Post-spawn smallmouth will remain close to shallow rocky areas of the lake until the temperature of the water warms considerably. Islands, points and shoals are the three preferred spots to begin your smallmouth bass search, starting each area up shallow and moving deeper until you connect with fish. Topwater plugs, crankbaits and jigs are the preferred baits early in the season and “matching the hatch” by using crayfish coloured is a sure-bet to entice fish into the boat.

Comes Summer

Summer fishing can often be a “hit and miss” attempt due to whereabouts of the fish during this time. Early morning and evening periods will usually find fish in shallow water aggressively feeding – this is were topwaters really excel and will lead to heart-stopping explosions on the surface. Daytime smallmouth will retreat to the safety of deeper water and will relate to depths from six to thirty-feet deep. The one thing they will relate to is structure, and having a dependable fish finder on board will become your underwater eyes. Look for humps, shelves and drop offs and work a jig over these underwater magnets. Due to the schooling nature of the smallmouth bass bass, once one is caught, there are sure to be more to come.

And In Fall

The fall time means one thing to a bass angler – BIG smallmouth. Fish at this time of year gorge themselves on crayfish and minnows in anticipation of the cold winter months. Searching for these hungry fish is the key to catching them, and concentrating on some of the spots you had success on earlier in the season will help you unlock the location factor. Points, saddles and shoals will hold smallmouth at this time of the year, however, the school will be situated farther from shore and in deeper water in comparison to their summer counterparts. Begin your search by finding water in the 20-foot depth and continue working until you hit 35 feet. Most of your fall fish will relate to water this deep and once you catch some, the remainder of the lakes’ fish will be holding at this magical depth. Rattle traps, cranks and jigs are the artillery for the fall enthusiast, and using a marker buoy to stay with the school and at the optimum depth will increase your chances of connecting. Locating and catching smallmouth is a real challenge.
