There is no secret when fishing for big bass. Just simple techniques that will catch you more bass and bigger bass every time you go out no matter what the fishing conditions are like. Hooking a great big old bass is one thing, but actually catching the bass without it breaking your line or getting loose is a totally different story. Bass are famous for having a bad temper they often strike or feed on something that is annoying to them. They are a very aggressive fish and 80% of the time that they strike your lure it is a reaction, the other 20% is actually hunger! So in other words if you piss them off you will get a strike. When fishing for bass try to use something that is an attention grabber. My personal favorite when fishing for big bass in new lakes is a big old multi – colored spinner bait. The spinner bait is a very effective bass fishing tool it grabs the bass attention and entices them to strike on reaction and not hunger leaving you with a more active fish and often a much bigger bass as opposed to live bait fishing.

Imagine… You are in the perfect fishing hole, with more than ideal conditions. The water color, temperature, wind, cover and structures surrounding you… just too perfect for the Largemouth Bass. You examine the surrounding area quietly, and observe underwater logs, rocks and weed growth along the banks. He’s nearby. He has to be, this is my chance, it’s perfect. You have no doubt that the 14 pound Trophy Bass that you have been searching for is within your reach. Yet, cast after cast, you just can’t seem to get a strike. What would you do? Consider it a bad day and move on? Guess what… You probably just lost your Trophy Bass.

Check out my Squidoo Page… http://www.squidoo.com/bass–fishing

Largemouth Bass are tough fish to catch, they know how to play the game you really have to get into the mind of this fish to be able to catch it. Knowing where and how to catch Largemouth Bass requires deep understanding that can take you years to master. A couple tips for the next time you arrive in the perfect fishing hole. Start with something noisey like a buzz bait or a spinner bait or a lure that stays on the surface of the water, a real attention grabber make sure to comb the area thouroghly. After that is done and you still have not cought your 14lb trophy bass its time to step it up a notch, whatever you do don’t move to a new spot because you think there are no bass there.Your wrong!!! A simple change in technique will land you that 14lb bass of your dreams. Switch that spinner bait or buzz bait to a 7 inch white plastic worm something along the lines of a slugo bait, It has to be white. Now comb that same area with a very slow twitching retreive. Remember when i said 80% of strikes are aggression strikes and the other 20% are hunger strikes. Well you know that there are no aggressive bass there because you thouroghly casted your spinner bait in the area. Now try a slow twitching retreive with the white plastic worm in the same area and you are going to catch that hungry bass. Most often the hungry bass are the big mama’s, and there you go you now have your 14lb trophy bass from a spot that you were going to leave. It is simple techniques like these that will catch you more bass and bigger bass every time you go fishing.

There is no secret when fishing for big bass. Just simple techniques that will catch you more bass and bigger bass every time you go out no matter what the fishing conditions are like. Hooking a great big old bass is one thing, but actually catching the bass without it breaking your line or getting loose is a totally different story.
Fishing clubs are growing in popularity all the time because they have so much to offer any angler regardless of your fishing skills.

You will find fishing clubs all over the world where you find anglers who take their bass fishing seriously. California is no exception and you can find scores of bass fishing clubs in this state.

There are many great options available that will give you the opportunity to join a club and to have the greatest fishing experiences in your life.

When you make the decision to join a bass fishing club you should first learn as much as you can about the club.

Every bass fishing club has its own unique qualities that make them a little different from all the rest. They have different rules and regulations and requirements to become a member.

For example, some clubs require you have your own fishing boat, others don’t. Some let you fish alone in tournaments, others require you to pair up with another member.

Some bass fishing clubs have a theme that you must be willing to adhere to while other ones keep it simpler. Not all bass fishing clubs participate in tournaments, many of them get together to simply fish for fun.

Top Bass Fishing Clubs in California

There are many bass fishing clubs located throughout California each with their own unique qualities. If you are searching for a bass fishing club in California here is a list of the top bass fishing clubs in this area.

American Bass Fishing Club

Bay Area Bass Fishing Club

Black Bass Action Committee Fishing Club

Bass Ackwards Bass Club

Bass Anglers of Northern California

Bassbusters of Santa Clara County

California Bass Chapter Federation Fishing Club

Canyon Lake Bassmasters Fishing Club

Clearlake Bassmasters Fishing Club

Clovis Bass Club

The California Bass Fishing Club

These are just a few of the options that are available to you. When you decide that joining a bass club is the right decision, the next step is finding the right club that suits your individual needs.

Tips on Finding the Right Bass Fishing Club

Each person that joins a bass club has their own personal reasons for doing so.

To make sure you join a club that meets your needs it is always a good idea to learn as much about the club as you can before you join. Ask yourself the following questions to help determine which club would suit you the best.

What do you want from the bass fishing club? Some bass clubs are designed for recreation only while others compete in local fishing events.

Some bass fishingclubs are state level and others are national level clubs. You have very small clubs with only a handful of members and large ones that have many benefits. By determining what you want, you will know where to start.

If you are searching for a club where you can relax and simply go bass fishing for fun while having others to talk to that enjoy the same thing, then you wouldn’t want to join a club that competes in tournaments nationally.

On the other hand, if you do want to take part in tournaments, then you don’t want to join a local club that goes fishing for fun.

One reason this lake is so great for bass fishing is because it is the perfect habitat for this species of fish. There are a lot of flooded timber and submerged trees located throughout this lake along with other natural structures that make the perfect home for bass.

Lake Fork covers three different counties in Texas which are the Rains, Hopkins and Woods counties. It contains 27,264 acres of water and averages about seventy feet deep. It was impounded on the Sabine River in the year 1980. You will find that the largemouth bass is the most abundant species of bass found in Lake Fork and you will have the most success when fishing here during the spring, fall and winter.

Best Fishing Bait to Use on Lake Fork Texas

Experienced anglers know that you will need different baits depending on where you are. A lot will depend on the natural food source that is available in the lake you are fishing. When it comes to the best bait to use on Lake Fork you will find that spinnerbaits, jigs, crankbaits, and jerk bait work very well. You can also have some really good results when fishing for bass with plastic lizards and worms.

The bass spawn between mid February and April so this is when you will find them along the shoreline in large numbers. You will get the best results from using crayfish during this time of the year. Other baits to use during this time include artificial lizards, salamanders, minnows and worms.

If fishing in the summer months you may want to limit your fishing to the nighttime hours when it is cooler and the bass are biting more. During the heat of the day they will move out to deeper water and are less active. This is when crankbaits and topwater lures are the most productive.

Shad is one of the favorite foods of the bass especially in the fall. When using artificial shad the chrome or white colors will work the best. When fishing the shallow waters in the fall anglers have found that crankbaits and topwater lures work great. During the winter months the bass seem to be more attracted to spoons, crankbaits and jigs.

Where to Fish and When

When fishing Lake Fork for bass you will have the best luck in the early mornings and late afternoons. Fishing on cloudy days is also recommended because in the heat of the day when the sun is at its brightest, the bass will move out to deeper water. It is important to know that bass stay around cover where they feel protected.

Shallow water, grass beds, weeds and shorelines are the best locations to search for bass because this is where they tend to hang out the most. However, if you are fishing in the heat of the day, then you will want to move out to deeper water and fish around the edges of underwater structures and around ledges. They will also be located in coves and creek channels.

So you’ve avidly read instructional books on bass fishing, grasped the difference between
a slow and fast action rod, and scheduled a fishing trip with friends, before you pack up
all your gear and jump in your truck, take a minute to read this article and add a couple of
advanced bass tips to your arsenal.

Inexperienced anglers fail to catch more bass because they don’t fully understand how to use
the lures properly. Lures of all types including spinnerbaits are intended for specific
functions.

There are a large variety of bass fishing lures available at fishing stores that
should only be used in particular environments and in certain ways, so here’s a quick guide
to the lures you should use in waters of varying depth.

Shallow Water Fishing: Although bass tend to feed in shallow waters, catching them can be a bit tricky because they’re scattered. Catching bass in shallow waters requires you to use lures that can be cast and withdrawn easily and in quick succession.

This way, you can cover a large area of water effectively. This is important because if you stay in a single area for too long, you decrease your chance of catching any bass.

Medium Water Fishing: Crankbait are ideal for medium water fishing. Depending on the exact depth of water, different sized crankbaits are needed. The most ideal are crankbaits that can sink deep into the water and remain there for long periods of time.

If you have enough of these out in the water, you increase your chances of catching fish. The best part is, with crankbaits, the lures typically go deeper into the fish’s mouth before hooking onto it. This ensures a guaranteed catch.

Deep Water Fishing: Bass go to deeper depths in search of cooler and more oxygen-rich water during the summer. Experienced anglers use pre-rigged plastic worms and jigs to fish in deeper waters. Be sure to get a worm made of soft plastic to imitate the texture of an actual worm, so the bass will hold on to the lure longer. The longer it holds on, the more time you have to reel him in.

Understand this and you’re ready to catch bass in any sort of environment. Fishing in medium
depth waters may be your best bet because anglers tend to go to the extremes when fishing.
Don’t be afraid to try something new. Just make sure you fully understand the purpose of each
lure type before you use it.

Whether you are fishing on a different lake or one that you are familiar with, you chief objective is to get a good number of fish that you possibly can. Every water body has it own unique forms of makeup and cover in various depths and condition of water. You can utilize many kinds of fishing gears and accessories to find fish in correct and legitimate ways, that’s calls for us to make good use of our fishing equipments.

Below are some bass fishing guidelines to keep in mind.

1. Ensure your feet is dry at all times using seal skin sox which is pair of water resistant shoe that can be worn with any type of shoe. It will greatly help you to set your boat to a low – water lake that requires you to step into the water to push off the boat; this sock will protect your feet from being wet at all times.

2. maintain your rod in good condition. A well kept rod is good to look at. It advisable that you use a pre-pad in cleaning the cork handles on the rod. If your fishing rod cork is very dirty, then it will make your rod appear many times older that it really is. Use a light grade sanding paper for cleaning the cork handle, you will discover that all the grime will be quickly removed and give your rod a beautiful new look. Thus make it last longer.

3. High tech gadgetry. Palm top computer and personal digital assistants like the popular palm-pilot can be extremely useful to a bass angler, this is because it will enable you log weather conditions, make your persona checklist to avoid forgetting stuff, and also save the contacts of your new friends you make in your expeditions. It can also enable you download maps for your destinations, so that when you reach home you can simply access the information and upload it to your home PC for future reference.

4. be prepared by always having your equipments your equipments and other gears in the boat.

5. ensure that your battery’s connection is good at time. Remember to carry a spare battery for emergency.

6. be organized. Rather than using a plastic filling box and hanging folders, better create articles and label them with common bass fishing headings and then file your article as you complete them. Subscribe to a lot of angling magazines and read a lot of quality articles, this will serve to keep you updated on the new happenings in the fishing industry. You can also create your personal library with materials about bass fishing.

7. remember boat bearings. A lot of anglers don’t remember to check the wheel bearing of their trailer boats. Always remember to cross check your ball bearings when you get your boat out for fishing from storage, this is a good precaution that will ensure you are safe with your boat.

8. The rod basics. The best casting is always accomplished with the bait casting tool is cast over hand. the casting of bait gear is very well suited for the so called “targeted” fishing. At certain occasions, putting a lure beneath a boat dock, underneath lying limbs or in-between pontoon boats could be necessary. In a situation like this, it’s best to skip a lure. A spin outfit is good for this type of chore. Be versatile and remember to use both type of gears.

9. Graphite rods. Graphite rods are best destroyed when knocked against hard objects. It could not break in that spot particular spot on that day that it happens, but a weak spot will be present at that spot. Remember this when you stow rods for travel. If you are stowing them on the deck, strap them against deck so that part of the deck are not ripping against it when traveling.

Suppose you are keeping them in the locker, do as instructed above or you can as well place them in horizontal holdin system, where they will not hit the floor of the locker, or hit the side. If you a non boater and your colleague does not have space in his locker, find space that reduces the repeated bouncing that it will take if you lay them over to the gunwale. If you have no option, then lay them over your leg when you run the big engine. It is no fun at all to see the hook on a nice bass fish and then end with a 3-piece.

Lake Havasu is an impoundment from the Colorado River that is located on the border of Arizona and California. This lake covers over 21,000 acres and stretches out twenty-nine miles long.

The shoreline is irregular and is made up of gravel and sand in some areas with mountain bedrock in other locations. It is one of the best places to go fishing for bass in the western part of the United States.

Most of the water that goes into Lake Havasu enters from the Davis Dam and the water exits from the California and Arizona canals. This lake has a lot of vegetation that makes for a great habitat for bass to grow and thrive to some very impressive sizes. You can find largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, striped bass and black bass in Lake Havasu. With these options, who wouldn’t want to go fishing in this amazing lake?

Where to Go Fishing for Bass on Lake Havasu

Whenever you go fishing on Lake Havasu you need to know where to find the bass. If you don’t have any idea of where to get started, then you may not have a very effective fishing trip. The bass, like many other species of fish, will spawn in the spring. This will be the time of year when they will be feeding the most aggressively and when you have the opportunity to catch the most bass.

Don’t miss this opportunity if you have the chance to be here during this season.

When you are fishing for bass you need to look for them around structures such as stumps, logs, Lilly pads, docks, trees and so forth. Basically, you need to search for them anywhere there are underwater structures whether they are man-made or natural. Bass like to ambush their prey and this gives them the perfect opportunity to do so.

You will find the smallmouth bass in the clearest parts of the lake and the largemouth bass will be in the darker waters under vegetation and around structures. You will normally find the stripped bass in the calmer parts of the lake. Keep this in mind when you are fishing for a specific type of bass. The more you learn about the lake the easier it will be for you to know where to start the search for the species of your choice.

Techniques to Use When Bass Fishing Lake Havasu

Many anglers will tell you that your technique is everything if you want to catch bass. This is true to a certain extent so let’s talk about techniques for a few minutes. One technique that works very well in Lake Havasu is fly fishing. This technique is growing in popularity as more and more anglers are learning about all the advantages it has to offer. It is a great way to fish for bass.

Trolling is another technique that is used often in Lake Havasu when fishing for bass. Trolling is a simple method that requires you to have the boat moving at a slow idle with the fishing lines following along behind the boat. This technique allows you to cover a lot of water in a short period of time which helps you to locate the bass much faster.

If you are a bass fishing enthusiast and visit a lake or pool with a high population of largemouth bass then the likelihood is that you have a working knowledge of he techniques that can be used to catch them throughout the year.

After all, they do have certain behavioural patterns that they follow year in and year out. If you are a seasoned expert then you probably have it down to a fine art by now, but ho much thought have you put into the lures you use?

Whether you are a novice or an expert, you should take the time to look into the different lures to see which ones work best with the largemouth bass in your local pool or lake.

Lures are essential pieces of equipment and using the right ones can really increase your catch rate. If you use the wrong ones then this can dramatically reduce your catch rate as well so taking the time to figure it all out is an excellent idea.

Of course, it is not only the lures you choose but also the way that you use them. This is why it is one of those things that you have to perfect over a season or two rather than just falling into it or picking it up right away. There are so many factors to consider – the clarity of water, the vegetation, the nature of the habitat. As such, you should investigate the nature of the lures and what they actually do so you know when to use them.

Spinnerbaits are a fine example of that. Largemouth bass absolutely love spinnerbaits and they can really improve your catch rate, but only if you use them correctly.

They are perfect for use in vegetative areas and also in shallow waters. They are especially useful for dragging along the bottom of a lake or through thick weeds. As such, they target he largemouth bass proactively and directly so you do not have to wait for them to bite. You should choose those with bigger blades though because they cause a greater vibration in the water.

They are not good for medium or deep waters though. For those, you need other types of lures.

Crankbaits are fantastic for use in medium waters, especially if you are skilled enough to get them to turn when the bass is approaching. Depending on the depth of the water, you can choose shallow, medium and even deep diving crankbaits. No matter what type you choose, they will have the largemouth bass eating out of your hand. Literally in most cases!

Worms are also fantastic lures, especially the plastic ones that are used on a regular basis. The bass go crazy for hem because they are so realistic and are textured as if they were real.

They are excellent for use in the vegetation and when fishing deep and well as in shallow pools. Worms are literally the great all rounders of the lures selection you have at your disposal so if all else fails, they should be the lures you turn to.

The Potomac River is located right between Virginia and Maryland. This river is one of the main hotspots found on the eastern side of the United States and is very well-known for being shallow and extremely close to the shoreline. This is the type of environment that is perfect for bottom feeders making it a great place to go bass fishing. It contains both freshwater species and migratory fish such as the stripped bass along with shad and herring.

In fact, you will find an abundance of largemouth and striped bass in the 50,000 acres of excellent fishing waters that make up of the Potomac River. Many anglers consider it to be the best place to go bass fishing in the eastern part of America. There are two things that make this river so special. One thing is the high quality fish that is located here and the other is the fact that it is very close to a huge metropolitan area.

Basic Information about Fishing the Potomac River

The Potomac River is a popular area when it comes to bass fishing. Many of the bass tournaments are held north of the Wilson Bridge on this river because it is one of the best places to find the bass. Although, you will find that fishing near Mount Vernon can also be productive. One of the great things about the

Potomac River is that it can be a little unpredictable and you can find an abundance of bass located throughout the river just about any time of the year.

However, not every area is productive every year. Some areas may have a lot of bass one year and you will not find any in that spot the next year.

The main river is not the only place where you can find bass on the Potomac. You will also find a number of different creeks that are filled with fish. This river has many types of structures that create the perfect environment for the bass to thrive. You will find an abundance of rockpiles, laydowns, piers, wharves and sunken barges. With the added vegetation expanding throughout this river it is even more appealing to the bass.

The upper portion of the Potomac is where the freshwater fishing is done making it a great place to catch bass as well. In fact, the stripped bass is probably the largest species found in this part of the water. It is recommended that you use a fishfinder to help you locate the bass when fishing on the Potomac River.

It will certainly help to narrow down your search and help you find the locations of the bass much faster.

Techniques for Bass Fishing the Potomac River

The best time to go bass fishing on the Potomac River will be between the months of July and December. Of course, as the water begins to cool the bass will start moving out to deeper water and they will begin scattering out during the month of September. This is when you need to start searching the deeper waters for the bass but they are still there and still biting.

There really are some killer bass fishing tubes available to enhance your bass fishing experience, particularly if you like fishing dock areas. Dock fishing is a favorite of many people, especially those who just want a few hours of quiet without the hassle of a boat. (But, hey, who doesn’t like a boat?)

Now, there are times when it is not a good idea to fish the docks. One is during tournaments when every angler there is out in the dock area fishing for a big bass. Big bass love to cover of a dock, and they love to swim through shallow water (you can often see them right under docks and next to them in plenty of locations.)

Such heavy pressure really lessens your chances of catching a big bass, when there’s a tournament happening, but when conditions are right, and big bass seek the shallow cover of the dock areas, you really should consider a heavy action rod and a tube.

A 7 foot flipping rod paired with a 4 inch Yum Garrett Mega tube really is a good choice, in spite of the fact that power fishing a tube is not your most common site. Look into this option for your first choice.

It all comes down to a choice between skipping some other lure under the dock, and hoping that you manage to land in a good spot or flipping and pitching a big tube into an exact spot where you know big bass are bound to be hanging out. The

Mega Tube is good because it is really heavily loaded to make it have the bulk it needs to get where you want it to go, but it is also exceptionally sleek, and unusually adept at coaxing big bass to take the bait. Another bonus is the Yum scent that just sets off the feeding response in these big lunker bass. When the bass think they have live bait, they hang on to it as long as they can giving you more chance to get them out of the water.

To rig the mega tube, try about a 17 pound fluorocarbon test line (for clear water) and tungsten weights. Then, tie on a 4/0 wide gap hook, Texas rigged. Peg your weight about half an inch above the tube.

When you cast your tube, concentrate your efforts on making your entry soft and accurate. Cast to areas near ladders, near the sides of docked boats, or other stationary objects providing cover for the big bass you seek. Practice makes perfect, but a good entry and a good location can make all the difference when it comes to catching or not catching the bass!

There are many types of tube lure designs. You can find those combined with various shapes such as crawfish shapes with the hollow body of a tube to create some really effective proucts. There are jig heads, rattles, hooks, trailers, and rattles to use with tubes. Tubes allow anglers to catch bass from the bottom all the way to the surface, and from the shallows to the deeps all year long.
