I’m a trout, salmon, and bass fisherman, and I’m planning on a long day of lake fishing over here in NY. I use a spinning reel.
I haven’t been really into fishing until the past five years. Therefore, I’ve NEVER been good with sinkers. I don’t ever know how many I should put, the placement, anything. So for you trout fisherman out there, I have a question;
How many sinkers do you use on your line, and what placement (inches apart) do you put them at? If you don’t have specifics, give me suggestions, or what has worked best for you. If you’re wondering, I put my bobber about 8 inches from my hook.
Keep in mind I’ll be mainly trout fishing, so any fish-specific tips should be focused on trout fishing. Thanks for any help you can give!

well it really all depends on where the fish are…if they are huggin the bottom you want to put the sinkers closer to the hook but if they are suspended then you want to put it higher…as for bobber fishing i have no idea…i havent fished with bobbers in about 4 years…so i dont know…

I’m not a pro by any means but putting your bobber 8 inches from the hook, you,re not going to catch anything. With trout, I either bottom fish, off the shore or just float a worm, from a boat. for bottom fishing I would use enough weight to cast out about 30 feet. place the weight about 3 feet from the hook.

you want to use the least amount of weight you can get away with. you want a 2 to 3 foot gap between your hook and weight
